I love it. When I was little I used to like going to Kentucky Fried Chicken with grandma and fighting with my sister for the lion's share of the thing of potatoes.

I started just making a quick kfc-like gravy here and two of my kids are all over it when we do chicken or pork.  In my 20s I thought that making passable gravy was dark magic, so it's kind of absurd thinking now just how simple it is, even if you're just cheating and not using any actual meat drippings.

The one that's now my weeknight go-to is:
3 T butter
5T flour
(make a roux that just barely darkens)
Slowly add 1c chicken broth and 1c beef broth - I just add Better Than Bullion to water, and it's great
Add some pepper

It's maybe ten minutes total effort, and scratches that itch.  If you make the roux a little darker and add some cayenne, it's pretty close to what Popeyes serves.
Sounds really good, will try. Kids are big into them taters about 50% of the time. Maybe the gravy will increase the percentage. Round me up, bro.

I use better than bullion too and it is an excellent cost effective product! I always have a veggie and beef jar in the fridge. I used both for my IKEA meatball gravy.
