I'm pretty lucky... use the same firewood guy for years and he's really convenient and quick.
It's a trailer load and they unload and stack it wherever you want for about $125 a load. Maybe two pickup loads worth.
It's always oak but sometimes you can ask for hickory which I really like... plus, if you give them a few days, they will cut it to the size you want. This is great for me as I have a big fireplace insert and like shorter, fatter logs.
Wish I had a firewood source like that Dave! It's harder to find firewood in Iowa than it was in KY.

From a little bit of digging a standard truck bed loaded is just about a half cord of wood. 125 for a full cord is a good price.
Was supposed to pick up a cord here for 180 but ended up burning leaves and cleaning up the property while the wife went to the state fair with friends.
125 for a cord is a damn good price.
Probably not quite a cord, I'm going to guess it makes a stack about seven feet long, five feet high, wood is cut about 18" - 20" long.
But, I'm happy with it.
What kind of generators do you all have?? I got nothing but am thinking maybe just a little something for emergency sake?! Tons of folks at Sam's this am looking pretty focused. I bought a 6 tier shelf for pantry, need to get rid of some junk and open up some new storage space!!
I have a Generac XP8000E. I bought it about 12 years ago when there was a massive ice storm and I knew we would be out of power for days. I actually had to drive an hour away to find it. I use the unsafe method of using a male to male extension cord to bring the power into an outlet.
I need to be careful to shut off the main power and all of the breakers before feeding the power into the house. It works really well though. I takes care of about 75% of all my outlets. I have to run an extension cord to my basement freezer but other than that it powers almost everything. It has both electric and pull start.
Day 2 of the 2021 Fall TP debacle. Sam's butt tickets still nowhere to be found!
Anybody else experiencing shortages?!
I've still got TP left over from the 2020 debacle. How much shitting are people doing?
I've got a predator 670 twin that's peaks at 13.5 k. And a Subaru single cylinder good for 7k
