Unprompted, the government starts sending these checks every month to me for "advanced child tax credits." Now, at tax time, I owe every penny of that back, and they're hitting me with an underpayment penalty as a result of owing them so much. WTAF
Kids are expensive..........
Stuff I've skimmed over made this change sounded like a clusterfuck in the making. Of course there will be a cry to forgive it, and that may just happen. Sucks for you though.
This doesn't even have anything to do with kids being expensive. The government could have sent mea "carrot stipend" or anything else I never asked for. Send it back at the end of the year? Sure, fine, yeah... not sure why you bothered. But hitting me with an underpayment penalty as a result? That's serious horse shit.
Dropped our taxes off last week. I'm guessing we will be in the same boat.
Fortunately my income dropped.
We did not get a penalty that I can see anywhere, but sure enough we owe for the first time ever! Thanks Sleepy Joe! I guess it was nice to use some govt money interest free.
