Anybody know about these?

Seems like one of those things that could make a difference in a low humidity area.

So, obviously, I've never heard of them and would not try them.

HVAC guy informed me that this type of system makes the compressor run too high and this is a bad thing.

Yeah don't do that. It fucks with pressures in the compressor system as mentioned. It also will cause mineral buildup on your fan and coils. I know it supposedly treats the water... But it's not.
