Sam's Club - Augie91 - 01-11-2021

I've been really digging a few things lately at Sam's club.  Thought I'd share and see if you all are buying any Big Box items that I'm missing out on and should try!?

Pre-prepared meals - I gotta tell you that I've been a bit lazy.  Sam's club has chicken taco kits, stuffed peppers, and chicken alfredo meals that my family loves.  They are reasonably priced and don't have a lot of ingredients and preservatives in them.  You just pop them in the oven and the kids go nuts.  I've seen the same offerings at Costco too.  I grab a couple loafs of italian bread and the family is happy.

I first felt guilty trying these.  But after several times where I spent a lot of cash and time and effort to home cook a meal then the kids wound up eating ramen noodles I just buy what they will eat that is cost effective now Smile

We've gotten to the point that it's easier to just make basic breads and tacos and such out of the stash of what we keep around. So if I get food at Sam's, it's meat, snacks, and liquor. I'll probably look at going back to Sam's for all of the paper products and household things we've been getting from Amazon for the past few years.

All that said, yeah, wtf is it with kids reaching for the ramen for every single meal. The only thing more popular here is when I make fried chicken. Then they eat that at every opportunity until it's gone.

FYI...for our cold Iowa winters, Sam's has their Members Mark 2 packs of the upscale soups on sale here for $6.68. Not sure how advanced your kids palates are, but our kids go crazy for the Broccoli Cheddar, Tomato Basil, and Chicken Tortilla. I'm thinking about trying out the loaded baked potato too or the shrimp corn chowder. Whenever I go to Sam's I always seem to wind up grabbing a bunch of stuff not on my list Smile. Isaac's passion is chicken pot pies. I'll get a bunch of them when they are on sale and he will eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner till they are gone.

Yeah,

Sam's club "plan" = $150
Sam's club actuals = ~$400

Funny, that.

Sam's has some bottled blueberry lemonade that my kids are really digging. Recently I bought a key lime pie that I'm curious about if it will be even close to the ones we get at the beach. I've been finding some really nice Calloway and Greg Norman golfing shorts/shirts in Sam's clothing section! Very well priced!

Not really Sam's fault, but I paid $8 a pound for brisket last week. I enjoy some Tejas bbq now and again, but $100 for two flat cut pieces just had me cringing.

Ouch $8 is insane.  Rising beef prices?  Russian hackers?  Wtf?  Whenever I check the brisket price it seems to be around $5 pound.

Costco has Kerrygold Dubliner cheese on sale! First time I have ever tried it. Holy smokes this cheese is awesome. Nice little bite, very rich, love the crunch of the crystals.

I could use some good cheese right about now
