Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Augie91 - 03-18-2022 My odd allergic reactions have driven me away from canned tuna the majority of my life. What do I care, it's dry and stinks anyways! I recently found a canned tuna that I can be friends with! Genova Yellowfin in Olive Oil tuna from Costco. Kipper snacks might be replaced by this right out of the can healthy protein! I'm gonna try a smoked tuna dip recipe with it soon. I will report back!! If you struggle with canned tuna give this brand a go. I recently loaded up on it for my bunker, $9.99 for 6 cans at Costco. https://pinchmysalt.com/smoked-tuna-dip-recipe/comment-page-2/#comments RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Trub Lou - 03-18-2022 I really love tuna, but have never been able to get in to whatever is in the can/pouch. My mom used to make tuna noodle casserole growing up, which is the foulest concoction known to man. I assume that's the reason. But actual tuna, I really enjoy. I've even made tuna salad by salt poaching some steaks and then chopping it up. RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Trub Lou - 03-18-2022 We don't have a Costco, but I'd try this on your word. Heading to Sam's today though, so maybe? RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Mexas Joe - 03-18-2022 I love seared Ahi medium rare. Canned tuna can GTFO. RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Trub Lou - 03-18-2022 Kind of where I'm at RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Augie91 - 03-19-2022 Sam's does not have it. They carry it at Walmart though! Get one can for $2 and see what you think! I think the key is it is Yellowfin, but most importantly it is packed in olive oil. The water packed stuff is dry to me, and it is albacore which for some reason is pricey. We've ate a ton of smoked tuna dip in Floribamas, I'm excited to try the recipe which is healthier. I read some articles about how if tuna is not packed really quickly after they kill it allergic reactions can occur. I like the tuna steaks rare too and my favorite sushi is tuna avocado roll. Here's a pic of the can. ![]() Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Mexas Joe - 03-19-2022 Curious about this so-called smoked tuna dip you speak of Augie. RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Augie91 - 03-19-2022 Here's the stuff that we get when we are in Pensacola.... https://gulfsmokedseafood.com/products/ When in Clearwater we hit our favorite local seafood market and get their smoked fish spread.... https://nachmansseafood.business.site/ Wondering if they have something comparable in Texas?! RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Mexas Joe - 03-19-2022 Oh, it not something you make then. Gotcha. Think they could have come up with something besides "fish spread" tho. RE: Canned Tuna. My Friend! - Trub Lou - 03-19-2022 Mexas, the recipe is in the OP. |
