I read that story yesterday. The headline certainly elicits outrage, but it's a very tough situation. I can't blame the mother for wanting to make sure her child is safe, and after all the information/misinformation on what vaccines do and don't do, it's hard to fault her.

A recent animal study indicates that an Omicron-specific COVID-19 vaccine booster does not provide any better protection than a booster of an existing vaccine.
The study, published as a preprint on bioRxiv and yet to be peer reviewed, examined the Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA) original vaccine and an Omicron-specific one in development. The vaccines were given to primates.

Israeli scientists said they found "striking" differences in the chances of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 when they compared patients who had sufficient vitamin D levels prior to contracting the disease with those who didn't.
