Brewing after a long hiatus - Gusso - 07-27-2020 It's been at least 5 years, maybe more. But I'm back at it. Made a Belgian Tripel last week. Will do another this week with different yeast in my newly constructed mash tun. Been too long. ![]() I guess this should be in the alcohol forum...whoops. It has been almost a year for me. Just haven't been motivated. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Gusso - 08-02-2020 Another batch of the same. Used the BIAB method. Outstanding. Got 83% efficiency. Way better than the old Warthog. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Mexas Joe - 08-03-2020 Isn't brewing at home illegal? It's prolly been 10 years for me. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Gusso - 08-06-2020 Might pick up some cornies this weekend in Beaufort. I only have 3 and a shorty. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Mexas Joe - 08-06-2020 I've not had more than 3-4 beers since Feb. #True Story. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Trub Lou - 08-07-2020 Did you ever do a different one, or was it literally another of the same batch. I normally do 6 or 7 batches a year, all for the Halloween party. Not really sure yet what I'm gonna do this year. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Trub Lou - 08-07-2020 Maybe I'll host a "peaceful protest" where we just set fire to local establishments, in order to stay on the right side of the progressives. ![]() Nah, just kidding. We don't really tolerate that crap here. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Gusso - 08-11-2020 I did the same recipe about 10 days apart. I went with a different yeast for the second batch of Drunken Monkey, though. I used a dry Lalbrew Abbaye the second time around. Tomorrow is a Saison, next week an IPA. RE: Brewing after a long hiatus - Gusso - 09-16-2020 So much has changed since I stopped brewing 5-6 years ago. For the better, I must say, the BIAB has increased my efficiency a ton, these new hops are fantastic, and that Kveik yeast is simply amazing. I'm definitely making the best beer I ever have! Btw, I ordered a Tilt hydrometer. Cool gadget but pricey. Plop it into your fermenter and it gives you gravity readings and temperature. Gonna test it out within the next week. |
