Hunting woes - TxBrewer - 11-04-2022

So last year I passed on several deer that were small and didn't put any meat in the freezer.     So far bow season has been a bust with undersized bucks.

Wife has gone from comments to asking if I plan on actually hunting this year or just napping in blinds.     If rifle season doesn't fill a couple tags she may get really nasty

I don't expect much this year due to the massive drought. Didn't even fill feeders as we usually feed year round.

But if it's Brown, it's Down I guess.

Get some deer!!!!!!!

So the hunting is bad cause of drought? Any other reasons? Does the drought drive them away?

Drought lead to a combination of lack of forage and increased fires that dropped populations.

Meanwhile in Virginia, we have an excess population. I could hunt with a bag of marbles and zipties at this point.

A gator just moved into the pond next to my house. If you're in the neighborhood...

He's the swingingest alligator in the swamp!

Ah, the seahorse of the land. A mighty foe.

I may head to Camp this weekend. Not sure yet. Really not too jazzed about this season.

Saw a case of chronic wasting disease at a State Park I was staying at near Lockhart TX.

Never seen one in the wild. Bad shit.

That is very sad.
