Lou Misguided Me - Gusso - 05-31-2020

Jet's Pizza?  You said it was legit.  I went out of my way 30 minutes on your recommendation. It was edible, as most pizza is to me but - really?  I've heard you speak highly of it.  In hindsight, it was very similar to LittleCeasaer DeepDish.

RE: Lou Misguided Me - Trub Lou - 05-31-2020

I've never had little ceasar's deep dish.

What I did say was:
1) Detroit style pizza is the best pizza there is
2) As chains go, Jet's has some pretty awesome Detroit style pizza in the times I've been to Michigan.

Jules, who lived in New York for many years, will back me up here on both these points I believe. Maybe there's just substantial regional variation, or maybe Detroit style isn't your thing, which would be sad, but I've found that no matter how great something is, there will be people out there who don't like it.

What don't you like about it? Crispy bottom crust? Cheese out to the edge? The delicious blackened spots on top? BRB..... Big Grin

I'm sure the Jet's in North Charleston is the same as other places. It wasn't horrible, just ok. The crust was fine. I suppose the biggest problem was that the sauce, cheese, and toppings were almost identical to Dominos/Pizza Hut/ whatever chain. I'm really looking forward to a new place that's just about ready to open - Tolli's. It's a New Haven style pizza parlor.

This is their New Haven location. http://www.tollisapizza.com
The new Johns Island location will be about 15 minutes away.

Interesting.  Those two statements are completely incongruent.

I'm not saying Jet's is the best pizza, obviously.  But it's far better than the other chains you mention.  Glad to hear about your new local place.  What's "New Haven" style pizza?  We have some local gems here too, but I speak of Jet's more in the *quick things to hit if you're in Michigan" context.

The only acceptable pizza option is thin crust.

Sure, if you're drinking a zima, I suppose.

But if you want the best tasting pizza and aren't counting calories, you can't beat a Detroit style pie.  I'll eat thin crust and like it, but there are definitely better options.

This might be the wrongest you have ever been!   Tongue

Thin crust pizza is at times solid, but it is not always the best choice!

RE: Lou Misguided Me - Stank Delicious - 06-01-2020

Stuffed crust pizza.

Gusso, did you ever get to the bottom of this? The Jet's corporate office might be very interested in knowing they've got a rogue franchise serving New York quality pies. Gotta nip that shit in the bud before it starts to affect your reputation,!
