Damn right this guy is, my daughter really wanted some beach time this weekend, I have some new surf gear I am eager to get wet and my brother and his kid want to soak a few baits and drink a few beers.    So packing up tonight to drive to the coast to do a bit of fishing.    Hopefully I will make it back Sunday and report back that we all survived.

Sounds like a blast.  "The coast" is the gulf for you?

I've never been surfing, but I enjoy wakeboarding and waterskiing the times I have tried it.

With a few 60 degree days this week, ski season is at a hard end.

I bought a 14' jon boat about a month ago. Tomorrow its supposed to be flirting with 80, and I'm taking that sucker out for the first time. I'll carry an ultralight and a heavier rod and reel. If I can get some bait with the ultralight, I'll throw them out to see if the cats are biting. But this is mostly a check out for the boat/motor and try out the fishfinder I put on it.

Going to Matagorda, will post some pics when we get setup. Got a screaming deal on a set of penn squall 50vsw reels on rods for less than the price of one reel.

Should be able to drag in 7-9 ft sharks with them.

I follow Texas Parks and Wildlife and the game wardens on Insta.

All the pics of piles and piles of dead fish (lots of trout) that didn't survive the freeze is sad.

They are asking anglers not to limit out till the population can recover.

The last numbers I heard were 3.8 million dead fish, 91% were feeder stock.  Mullet, croaker, piggy perch with the rest split between different game fish with black drum getting hit the hardest.

We got a 28inch and 21 inch black drum, a 36 inch redfish and a bunch of whiting.   Moved into the dunes to camp tonight.
