Oban is probably my current favorite in the highland/speyside realm. The Aberlour is very sweet and smooth, and a good thing to sip while contemplating the boldness to come. The Ardbeg is one of the more in-yo-face peaty islay whiskies that has the charred impact of Laphroaig but with the refined smoothness of Lagavulin. But I hate to end the night on something so peaty, so Macallan 12 and Glenfiddich 12 will always have a place in my cabinet as closers.
