Electric car? Uhhh..... no
#1
Electric bill went up to almost $500 this month.  Why the fuck on earth would I ever want to buy an electric car and have that skyrocket upward even more?  Holy crap.

Imagine if electric cars were the standard and someone invented the internal combustion engine. Imagine the sales pitch. "Recharges in under 5 minutes, lighter, no replacement batteries, no contact cleaner every 3,000 miles, you can run the AC AND the radio at the same time. May emit an authoritarian noise when accelerating."

And it makes water as it goes! Burns up environment-killing hydrocarbons!

You know damn well that once electric cars dominate the market, the price of electricity will all of a sudden go through the roof. And forget about all of those free charging stations at work.

The grid can't even support normal AC use in the summer.

Burn coal. Make electricity. Murica getting away from Fossil Fuels whilst the rest of the world don't care. Pollute away China and India. We green in Murica. WE PAY THE PRICE AND WE GET BEHIND. Vote for America First people!

Jeez electric trucks.
Ford lightning extended range battery is
131kwhr
That is 100 kwhr more than my home battery bank.
I could run my home full out in dead of summer for 4 days on that.
The amount of electricity these things eat is staggering.

Quick calculation - and im not an electrical guy, so forgive me - along with some googling puts the average number of miles driven/driver/day at 40. Average EV needs 0.5 kWh to go 1 mile. So, each driver is adding 20 kWh to their daily needs. For perspective, the current average kWh consumption per person is 12-13 kW/h. How long does it take to double the power generation of the country? triple if there's a high adoption rate.
