Anybody prepping for winter?! With cargo ships backed up offshore to folks saying "buy your Christmas presents now!" I'm wondering if you all are building up your bunker supplies?! I've not bought any presents, but I have been buying a few extra groceries and bought a little heavy on firewood.

Starting the firewood search now, crazy stupid prices. May buy in East Texas and drive it back. Other than that supplies look good.

I got a load at the end of last winter and only used a few pieces since it was a mild winter around here so I'm set.

I always heard that wet wood splits easier than dry... something about the wood fibers tearing easier or something..

That's what I mean... on 'wet' wood, I split it easily with one blow of the axe... I've never had to take a maul to it.
My BIL was the first one to tell me to split when wet and he grew up with a wood stove for heat.

I got a powered splitter and a couple employees that I can throw on that task.

Pickup bed of wood goes for $100 here in Iowa. Hard to find though. In the past 10 years I've went thru three different suppliers. The guys that brought me 2 loads this year said he won't be selling wood next year. Craig's list here I come...
